Hello friends, if you Search what is electromagnetic waves ? .if you want to gain the detail knowledge of electromagnetic waves than this article is very useful. I am tried to latest information .

In this article , you study;

1) defination of electromagnetic waves

2) Characteristics of electromagnetic waves.

****Defination of electromagnetic waves. ****

Definition: Electromagnetic waves or EM waves will be made up due to vibrations between an electric field and an attractive field. As such, EM waves are made From attraction waves and electric fields.

Electromagnetic waves

Prototype :

Electromagnetic waves are formed, when the electric field interacts with an attractive field. They are subsequently known as 'electromagnetic' waves. The electric field and attractive field of an electromagnetic wave are opposite (at right points) to one another. They are additionally opposite to the course of the EM wave.

EM waves travel with a consistent speed of 3.00 x 108 ms-1 in vacuum. They are redirected neither by the electric field, nor by the attractive field. Be that as it may, they are equipped for demonstrating impedance or diffraction. An electromagnetic wave can go through anything - be it air, a strong material or vacuum. It needn't bother with a medium to proliferate or make a trip starting with one spot then onto the next. Mechanical waves (like sound waves or water waves), then again, need a medium to travel. EM waves are 'transverse' waves. This implies they are estimated by their adequacy (stature) and frequency (separation between the most noteworthy/bottommost extremes of two back to back waves).

The most noteworthy purpose of a wave is known as 'peak', though the absolute bottom is known as 'trough'. Electromagnetic waves can be part into a scope of frequencies. This is known as the electromagnetic range. Instances of EM waves are radio waves, microwaves, infrared waves, X-beams, gamma beams, and so on.

Now you study the some charactestic of electromagnetic waves

Characteristic of electromagnetic wave

Fig :1.1

In the figure 1.1 show a schematic representation of an E W.
Various parameters used to describe the different types of EW radiation  are wavelength, frequency, wavenumber, amplitude.

1) Wavelength :

The distance between two successive crests or troughs is called wavelength. It is represented by the symbol of lambda. The SI unit for wavelngth is metre (m).

ii. Frequency (v):

The number of waves that pass a given point in one second is called frequency. It is represented by the greek letter nu, (v). The SI unit of frequency is Hertz (H2or s')

iii. Wave number :

"Wave number" is the number of wavelengths per unit length. The commonly used unit for wave number is reciprocal centimeter (cm), while the SI unit is m '. Wavenumber is related to the wavelength by an expression

Wavenumber=1\ wavelength .

iv. Amplitude (A) :

Every one know what is amplitude because we study amplitude in 9th class and 10th class also. Amplitude of a waves is the height of the crest . Square of the amplitude denotes the intensity of the radiation.
